WHAT DOES PRIME2PERFORM DO?
Prime2Perform is an Australian-based talent and media coaching company founded by Melissa Thompson, an Emmy award-winning U.S. TV presenter, producer, interviewer and writer. We help a variety of clients including performers, on-camera presenters, public speakers, dancers, actors, athletes, competitors, business people and social media influencers become better at presenting and performing through affordable coaching.
WHAT MAKES PRIME2PERFORM DIFFERENT FROM OTHER TALENT AND MEDIA COACHING COMPANIES?
Few media and talent coaches have Melissa’s experience earned from presenting on-camera 5- days a week for more than 20 years. In addition to her extensive performance and public speaking history on the local, national and international levels, Melissa is a clinically-trained psychotherapist. She knows how to help you improve your craft or presentation from the inside out, by helping you connect mentally to what you’re doing whether it’s public speaking or on-camera presenting, competition or anything else that requires you to perform in front of others.
HOW MUCH DO TALENT AND MEDIA COACHING SESSIONS COST AND HOW MANY WOULD I NEED?
First and foremost, Melissa recommends a free, no-obligation consult with her so that she can understand your performance goals and you can ask questions. This can be accomplished by scheduling a 10-minute phone call or an online consult. There is zero pressure to proceed from there. It’s just a chance for you to talk about what you’re hoping to achieve and to learn more about how Prime2Perform can help. You can also initiate contact with Prime2Perform by messaging through Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or phone text. You’ll find Melissa is very honest and realistic about helping you achieve your goals and is not looking to “sell” you her product. If she doesn’t feel she can help, she will let you know. Your success is her success!
If you decide you want to proceed, here are some basic ideas of pricing for various kinds of sessions. Prime2Perform doesn’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach, so the number of sessions and the cost depend on your goals.
-
A one-time only session starting at $75 for 30-45 minutes if you’re just looking for feedback on your current performance. This can be done in-person or online.
-
If you’re an individual interested in specific methods for improvement, you can purchase 60-minute sessions beginning anywhere from $60-$90/hour depending on your needs. If at any point, you feel you’re not improving, you’re under no obligation to continue. There are no contracts or anything like that.
-
For couples and teams, 90-minute sessions are recommended starting at $100-$120.
Again, prices may vary depending on your goals, but this gives you an idea.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DECIDE TO PROCEED AFTER THE CONSULT? WHAT ARE THE SESSIONS LIKE?
-
For athletes or competitors, it starts with an assessment of how strong you are mentally when you perform. Melissa uses the information from the formal assessment to help make your strengths even stronger and build-up any areas of weakness. Melissa can work with your coach if necessary, to compliment your physical training regimen and assist in developing tangible goals (individual or team) that are measured after each competition. You also work on developing strong mental focus so you can be “in the zone” every time you compete.
-
For performers, it starts with a review of your most recent performance and a discussion about what you want to improve. Melissa then develops a personal program that can consist of mental focus training combined with sessions in our private performance lab to work on adapting your new mental skills to your current technique. By removing mental and emotional blocks and finding new ways to approach performance, Melissa helps you move toward more authenticity when you perform. She can also help you develop performance skills you may not have time to work on but could need at some point like how to audition more confidently or how to adapt your skills to camera.
-
On-camera training consists of helping you develop your own brand based upon your personality and communication style. Melissa understands that it’s difficult to stand out in a very competitive field of on-camera presenters or social media influencers, so together you work on how to become less of a “talking head “and more of a personality that viewers/followers enjoy watching. This can be done in a one-off session just to sharpen your skills or over a few sessions to go more in-depth to develop a more effective presentation style. You’ll work with Melissa in the performance lab, learning by recording and playing back your performance and implementing new approaches or techniques.
-
Prime2Perform media training is perfect if you’ve been asked to be interviewed or you’re trying to get noticed by media outlets. After years of working in newsrooms, Melissa knows what various news or entertainment organizations are looking for when it comes to “making good TV.” She can help you with your pitch or techniques to be more confident and competent when working with the media.
-
Presentation and public speaking training are great if you’ve been asked to give a business presentation or you want to be more effective when communicating with clients. This can be accomplished in a one-off individual coaching session during which Melissa works with you on your verbal and non-verbal communication. As an Emmy award-winning presenter, producer and writer, Melissa knows how to make a presentation interesting and engaging. She can help you deliver your information in the most impactful way.
-
Workshop training-If you’re interested in a group workshop focusing on performance, presentation, media training or becoming a more effective competitor, Melissa can tailor her information to fit the needs of your group. All of her workshops are interactive with a focus on skills appropriate for everyone no matter what their performance level.
-
Video production-this Prime2Perform service is mainly for performers or on-camera presenters who want to showcase their talent either for social media or maybe an audition reel. Many of Melissa’s clients work with her over a few sessions to develop their performance for the camera. She uses her extensive experience as a writer and producer to help you bring your concept to life, then directs your video. The talented photographers and cinematographers at Jaylani Productions (jaylaniproductions.com) capture your performance and edit it for publication. ARE PRIME2PERFORM’S SERVICES APPROPRIATE FOR CHILDREN?
Melissa did much of her clinical training working with children and adolescents. She can adapt her information into a more appropriate format that’s more interesting and engaging to a young person. She begins with a free, in-person consult involving the parents and child to discuss performance goals. Melissa tailors the subsequent sessions based upon the child’s individual needs, communication-style and the concerns or input of the parents and/or the coach.
WHY DO I NEED PERFORMANCE COACHING IN ADDITION TO MY REGULAR COACHING FOR MY CRAFT OR SPORT?
There are many great coaches who help their athletes or performers with their technical training and often go above and beyond with advice and guidance regarding other issues like confidence. But many would acknowledge they aren’t formerly trained in psychology so there is a limit to how in-depth they can go. A coach shouldn’t have to spend valuable time that could be used to work on your technique, trying to help you be more confident, more motivated or less anxious about your performance. During performance coaching with Melissa, you will address those issues so when you arrive at your session with your technical coach, you’re mentally focused, clear about your goals, motivated, confident and ready to receive their knowledge.
I DON’T NEED PSYCHOLOGICAL HELP, I’M FINE MENTALLY.
This is the biggest misconception about the psychological aspect of performance coaching. It’s not about needing therapy, it’s about learning how to use mental strategies and techniques to build upon your technical training, Most performers work on their technique constantly, but expect the mental part of their performance to just fall into place which, depending on the day, is a hit or miss proposition. At Prime2Perform we show you how to have a mental focus regime so that you can insure you’re on your game every time at the crucial moment you’re performing. That’s why you often hear top athletes and performers thank their sports psychologist or performance counselors (in addition to their coaches) after a victory. Elite athletes and performers understand the importance of using every single asset they possess and not just training physically but mentally and emotionally as well. But you don’t have to be a full-time, professional athlete or performer to benefit from investing in performance coaching. It helps you get more enjoyment out of your sport or performance even if it’s just a hobby. It also teaches skills that are useful in everyday life, such as job interviews or daily interpersonal communication.
