Just like the title implies, my mission is to help you achieve your best possible state of mind.

At various times in our life, we encounter overwhelming challenges resulting in grief, trauma, stress, anxiety, and depression. While family and friends are helpful, sometimes you need the support of a professional to get back on track. Or perhaps there's nothing wrong per se, but you'd like to feel mentally stronger and focused.

At Prime Mind Psychology, I use therapeutic approaches backed by the latest research and tailored to your individual needs.

In short, I sit with you in that uncertainty until you’re feeling better and return to your optimal state of mind.

Who Am I?

I’m a clinical psychotherapist and mental strengthening coach who has been practising for more than a decade.  My education and training began just outside of New York City, working with at-risk youth and their families. Since then, I’ve helped many different people in various life stages through difficult times. I also work with athletes, competitors, public speakers and performers to help them become mentally stronger and more confident.

I have a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling and I’m a registered clinical member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia as well as an active member of the American Psychology Association.  I have an extensive background with a full range of services including primary work, crisis counselling and community care.

In addition to being a psychotherapist, I’m also a former news journalist. During that time, I was inspired by the strength of the human spirit as I reported on ordinary people confronted by and overcoming extraordinarily challenging events, including the attacks on 9/11.  My fascination with how the mind works to foster resilience is what led me to pursue the field of psychology.

"We all feel overwhelmed at times during our lives. There's no reason to feel alone. I'm here to sit beside you as we uncover and explore your inner resources together.”

How Counselling Works

It begins with a free, 10-minute consultation during which we discuss why you’re seeking counselling and how I can help. If you feel comfortable proceeding, we schedule a convenient time for an initial intake and assessment. If you’re in the Melbourne area, I recommend that the first session be in-person then we can proceed from there in determining whether future sessions are online, in-person or both.

Research shows that the key to a successful counselling outcome is a strong relationship between the client and psychotherapist. Studies also show that you can change well-worn neural pathways by developing flexibility in how you think and manage your feelings. This doesn’t happen overnight. It’s recommended that you attend a minimum of six to ten sessions in order to start to see change. I have been privileged to witness some truly significant, positive transformations in my clients who took the time and made the commitment to invest in their mental health.

As psychotherapists and counsellors in Australia don't currently take Medicare or accept Mental Health Care Plans, you can be certain that your sessions remain completely confidential and will only be added to your healthcare record at your discretion. You'll also find counselling fees are lower to make sessions more accessible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I claim consulting fees on my private insurance?

Yes, I take Bupa and Medibank but please check with your insurance provider regarding your Extras coverage.

What are your fees?

On average, my fees are around $140 for a 1-hour in-person session. As mentioned above, counsellors and psychotherapists in Australia don't currently take Medicare or accept Mental Healthcare Plans. But you'll find in general, our fees are comparable to the gap payment you pay many mental health professionals who do take Medicare.

How do I proceed from here?

Reach out to me either via e-mail, text or phone call. We'll set up a free 10-minute consultation and go from there!
